Purpose: School Site Council members represent Ocean Shore parents on the School Site Council. The School Site Council oversees the allocation and spending of School Improvement Funds (SIP) provided by the state. These funds, typically roughly equal to the PTO budget, are provided specifically to support site-directed enhancements to the educational program, teacher training, or facilities for low-income and incoming students. California law stipulates that these funds be overseen by a School Site Council consisting of 50% parents or community members (currently 4 members), and 50% school personnel (currently 4 members). School Site Council parent members represent school parents and the community in developing the Site’s School Improvement Plan and oversee spending of SIP funds and any other duties assigned by the PSD School Board. A PTO Executive Board member will be one of the parent members.
